Buildium provides a deeper system of record, which is valuable when accounting and leasing configuration matter from day one. The tradeoff is that a deeper setup normally requires more decisions.
2. Receive and resolve a maintenance request
Both products organize maintenance. Buildium connects maintenance to broader resident and vendor workflows. JHA emphasizes the operational handoff: priority, assignee, cleaner or vendor, status, photos, and what needs attention today. Teams should test the full path from request to owner-facing proof, not only the ticket form.
3. Give an owner a useful update
A useful owner report explains rent, expenses, open work, completed repairs, and the next decision. Buildium offers established owner portals and financial reporting. JHA aims to make the operational story readable from the same property record. Buildium's official site listed Essential from $62 per month, Growth from $192, and Premium from $400 when checked. Transaction, screening, and eSignature charges can vary by plan. JHA publishes flat portfolio tiers. The correct comparison is annual total cost, including payment, screening, onboarding, signature, messaging, and integration fees.
Who should choose which?
- Consider Buildium when mature accounting, leasing, screening, association workflows, and a broad integration marketplace outweigh setup complexity.
